As we had no claims, there is really nothing to report with respect to our experience. Purchasing the insurance was easy enough and the policy appears to cover what we needed, if a bit pricey. In the end, how good an insurance plan is will only be known when you need it to deliver. The good news is, we did not need any assistance. The bad news is, we have not way to know what service we would have gotten had we needed it. For that it will be better to reference someone who has been in need of assistance.

Tokio Marine HCC Medical Insurance Atlas Expedition
Fortunately, i did not need to use my plan but i felt much better knowing if anything went wrong, I had coverage. I would not get travel insurance on a small trip but for this trip overseas, i felt it was too much money invested to not have insurance.

John Hancock Bronze
I had to cancel my trip due to an accident and the plan covered my expenses.

However, the claims administrator for JH, Seven Corners was not a company that I would like to deal with again. Their website and processes are archaic which resulted in many phone calls to follow up. There is zero transparency since you only talk to a customers service rep who knows nothing about the claim. Also, if you are asked for additional information, the SLA timing starts all over upon receiving requested information.

I finally received an email saying that they are sending a check so I'm crossing my fingers that it arrives in the mail.

Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. Requesting a Customer Advocate is as simple as calling 800-487-4722 or emailing [email protected], explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.

    Our Travel Basic and Travel Select plans both offer Primary coverage, meaning you submit your claim to our Claim Administrator first, before submitting to your own personal insurance. We also have a 60 day look back window for pre-existing medical conditions. In addition, when the policy is purchased within 15 days (Travel Basic) or 21 Days (Travel Select) from the initial trip deposit, you will be eligible for the pre-existing medical condition exclusion waiver. We have several benefits, including those listed above, that differ from the plans offered by our competitors.
