Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
Having the insurance provides comfort in the event it is needed. I have had to use the insurance many years ago so I always purchase a policy. However, one should remember that not everything is or can be covered.

Fortunately we did not need to file a claim with C&F but having the protection gave us a great degree of confidence. My husband and I are getting older and still like to go to relatively remote places, and having a feature like emergency evacuation was important to us.
We will continue to use C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector, and like everyone else, hope we never have to file a claim.

As seniors, having peace of mind while traveling was important. Fortunately during our 2 week trip we had no reason to contact Insure My Trip but had we needed it we had the option at our fingertips.

In my opinion you never know how good a plan really is unless you have to use it. I had piece of mind and thankfully nothing bad happened on the trip, so I really don't know how good it was. It would be nice to be able to get some sort of a break in price if you have a history of no claims.

InsureMytrip made it super easy to browse and purchase trip insurance and they sent email confirmation of my purchase. Days before departure they also sent a "Bon Voyage" email with reminders and links for easy download.
I chose the John Hancock Gold plan for my traveling needs. It is administered through Seven Corners. They sent me ID cards and plan info via automated email on the same day that I purchased the coverage. They also provided contact info.
I did have to file a claim and it was a fantastic experience. I wish all of my vendor/provider interactions could be like this.
I called them just after a failed air departure. I did not have to navigate a lengthy "phone tree" or remain on-hold waiting for assistance. I first spoke with Angela. She was pleasant, helpful with my questions and immediately emailed the correct claim form to me.
I don't like to email private information (such as SSN) and faxing was inconvenient so I'm glad that they also have online uploads. Unfortunately, I had trouble with the on-line uploading. It appeared as though my documents uploaded successfully (no red x's), but it turns out that they likely had not (Seven Corners indicated that they had not received them). Seven Corners encouraged me to resubmit them. This time around, I got immediate feedback via email for a successful upload. The trick was to just upload one document at a time and not try to upload a group of documents. It's more tedious, but doing so yields email confirmation ("proof") for each and every document.
One week later, they asked for additional information which I was able to email to them (no private data required -- just the certificate number). It was a reasonable ask for an explanation of why I wasn't on the flight. I received a decision regarding the claim within a week via email and received payment days later. They didn't HAVE to alert me via email that a letter was on its way, but it was much appreciated. I will also mention that each interaction included someone's name -- not some generic department. Today, I recommended Seven Corners to family who regularly travel internationally (and have been waiting months for their claim from another company to be processed).
Kudos to the John Hancock team at Seven Corners, Angela H. and Deborah C. as well as InsureMyTrip.com !

I did not need to file any claims, but had piece of mind during my trip knowing that I had the Generali Global Assistance Preferred Plan in case I needed it. I thought the cost of purchasing the plan was very reasonable for those of us who are more budget minded.

We went on our trip in September and made the claim after we returned, we have yet to have a settlement, much less much contact regarding the claim.
Now the claim has been closed and they are not re-reimbursing as originally told I would be.
I believe it is because of my original complaint about how long it took to even contact me back regarding the claim to begin with. Do not use this company!

Thank you for your feedback on your CSA Custom policy. We were sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the denial of your baggage claim.
Although we did assign an Anytime Advocate to assist you on the denial of your baggage loss, there was nothing he could do because of the police report that was submitted with your claim. Unfortunately that official documentation superseded any word of mouth statement, so your claim was denied.
