AIG Travel Travel Guard Basic
My husband's health took a turn for the worse shortly before our scheduled cruise. His physician recommended that he not travel at that time. We filed a cancellation claim and were very satisfied with the outcome. It took about a month for the claim to be processed. I chose to handle the claim via their website and the process was easy to follow.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with this plan. One great piece of the coverage that may go unnoticed is that they cover up to $250 in airline ticket change fees when incurred FOR ANY REASON--not just when initiated by the airline or under certain conditions. I had a $200 change penalty reimbursed under this plan when I had to change a ticket on Delta to an earlier flight because my original itinerary didn't fit with the schedule for my group, and it was no problem at all. (Note, though, that this only applies to the change penalty, not the difference in ticket price, and it's only covered once per trip.)

My only thought was that I was over insured. The tour I was on had some coverage, but not cancellation insurance. So I felt I was paying double for similar coverage. However your price was the best I could find. I can't speak for your abilities in covering all these things as my trip was went off without a hitch.

My wife and I unfortunately had to cancel our cruise vacation due to a medical issue. The cancellation portion of our insurance was effective and covered all of our costs associated with this cancellation. The provider was easy to reach by phone and was prompt in sending the claim forms to me by email. After the claim was submitted I received my reimbursement within two weeks. I’m very pleased with this coverage and would highly recommend it to others.

While the plan itself may be good (don't know if it is or not since I never had to use it) there needs to be a better way to handle policy extensions. Here's our story. We purchased coverage to cover us from 8/17/17 thru 9/3/17 while we were traveling in Costa Rica. Due to Hurricane Harvey our return flight from San Jose, Costa Rica to Houston, Texas for 9/3/17 was cancelled by our airline. I attempted to contact someone at the phone numbers provided and either didn't get an answer or the requested return call regarding extending the policy end date was never returned. Our return flight finally took place on 9/7/17 which left us without any coverage for 4 days. Luckily we managed without the extended coverage. So given that situation, what should we do the next time? Purchase 10 days extra coverage just in case something like that happens again and then apply for a refund of the unused coverage if we're able to return to the US as scheduled?

I had a claim that was complicated because I had problems at both the beginning and end of my trip. The problems at the end became complicated because of steps I had to take at the beginning to get to my cruise. I had a little trouble filling out the claim forms, but sent a cover letter and they sorted it out and covered almost every thing I thought they would. There was one denied item that I didn't understand, but since they went over the max amounts that I thought they would cover I was very happy. The only problem was that my claim seemed to get hung up and I didn't get a response as fast I should have. When I called they expedited it and all was well.
