my trip was unexpectedly interrupted by my wife's altitude illness at 12,000 feet. April Insurance reimbursed me for my portion of the group trip costs as well as lodging costs after the interruption. However, I was unable to speak to anyone at April and they only responded via email. This lack of personal contact was disappointing. It took about 7 weeks from submission of the claim to receive our reimbursement.

We do want you and your fellow customers to be aware that InsureMyTrip offers a Customer Advocate Program. Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. Requesting a Customer Advocate is as simple as calling 800-487-4722 or emailing [email protected], explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.
I guess the best case scenario is that we didn't need to use it, and that's where we stand. My daughter did come back from India very sick, but it was good to know that if she had needed the coverage (got sick earlier, while she was still in India), then she had good coverage. Some of the other students in her group did get sick enough to be medically evacuated. The policy didn't cost that much, and I'm glad that we had the peace of mind.

Claim settlement is very disappointing. They didn't consider even additional $50 expenses apart from insured amount which I had to spend in preparation of trip for which I did provide appropriate receipt as well. Usually other insurance companies do consider this so DO NOT buy HTH worldwide trip insurance.

I have bought AXA plans 4 times and will continue to do so because the one time I filed a claim, it was promptly processed. That is what I expect. No hassle. I sent the required documentation. No questions were asked. The claim was processed.

The only issue I had was it wasn't clear till after I had bought the plan and started my trip that the plan was specific for where you started, ended and went on your trip instead of if you are multiple people traveling to a certain location. So I bought coverage for two (my girlfriend and I) but since we were coming from separate places she wasn't covered and I couldn't get my money back. Otherwise, it was a good plan and had good coverage.

We appreciate your comments and would like to provide you with more information in the event you purchase travel insurance in the future. In order for two or more travelers to be covered under a single policy, most Comprehensive Plans require that they reside in the same state with the same dates of travel and itinerary. According to your April Travel Protection Plan, "Traveling Companion(s) means person(s) named and traveling under the same reservation as You, person(s) booked to accompany You on Your Covered Trip, person(s) sharing travel arrangements with You, or a person or persons with whom You have coordinated travel arrangements and intend to travel with You during the Covered Trip. Note: A group or tour leader is not considered a Traveling Companion unless You are sharing room accommodations with the group or tour leader."
Please keep in mind that you may always call Customer Care at (800) 487-4722 for assistance when quoting should you ever have a question.
Everything the company said looked very good, so I bought a policy. I had no need for a claim, so I cannot evaluate the important things, like processing, service or reliability.

I took my first group tour ever and travel insurance was required. I have purchased travel insurance in the past depending on the trip. I thought this insurance policy was quite good and priced reasonably. As a traveller, that's the best we can hope for. I would use them again. Nothing happened which required my making a claim to this policy.
