Right before my trip, I found out that my health insurance had no coverage for out of network care because it was based a deal negotiated with a local hospital system. I checked my insurer's website for the area I would be traveling to for covered providers and found none. To cover this lapse since I would be doing some risky activities like hiking the Grand Canyon, I bought this policy as a "just in case/what if?"

Did not use, so really can't speak much towards the service. Looked good on enrollment, although real test is using the insurance which we did not do.

It was barely adequate coverage for the U.S. if I had needed emergency medical assistance where I could then return to my home country the amount would have been sufficient but not enough if I had to stay in the U.S. For any medical reason. I took the policy with the idea that if I had an accident or medical condition requiring emergency services, it would cover expenses until I could be transported back to Canada or a country that my private medical insurance would cover. I found the policy while reasonable in cost was insignificant in what it covered and for the amounts for any given situation.

The real test of the plan would be if I needed to actual use it. That's when I learn if its any good or not. At the moment all I can say is I paid for something I did not use and it appeared to cover what I needed ( in insurance its often the small print that is the killer). I'd probably try it again until such time as I need to use it then the real test/review would follow.
