GeoBlue Voyager Choice
This seems to be a good way to supplement Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan so that you have good coverage when traveling outside the United States, and also coverage in the event that a medical evacuation is required.

GeoBlue Trekker Choice
Fortunately we didn't have to file a claim for this trip. However, our experience with analyzing our choices and choosing this policy were excellent. I read the policy and then called costumer service with some detailed questions. The representative spent a full hour on the phone answering my questions. She was able to answer all but one of the top of her head and consulted with another representative about the other one. The coverage provided was excellent for a great price. Highly recommended.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
Called them while away and injured and they found medical care for me right away and continued calling to check on me and make sure I didn't need anything else. They also worked with the hospital directly so I did not have to pay out of pocket. I travel a lot and will always use them

MEDEX TravMed Choice Outbound
Toward the end of my trip I became pretty sick. We were in a far flung place, so I asked the tour guide to call his company and tell them I wanted to return home. (They had my insurance information.) I was told that I could sign off the tour and I'd then be on my own. I was way too ill to handle anything myself, and there was no phone access.
So all I could do was stay in bed alone for the rest of the trip.
My question is this: if one is really ill, as i was, then just how is one meant to contact the insurance company and arrange to be helped?

    The best way to obtain assistance from the insurance provider is to contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company by calling the toll-free or collect-call telephone numbers printed on your ID card or emailing Assistance@uhcglobal.com. "Upon your request, MEDEX will provide referrals to pre-approved physicians, hospitals, dentists, and dental clinics in the area you are traveling in order to assist you in locating appropriate treatment and quality care."

    If the condition is an emergency, please call the local 911 to be taken to the nearest physician or hospital, and then contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company as soon as reasonably possible.
