There were 4 critical emergencies onboard to cut our time back to port. We were back in port 7 hours earlier because of the emergencies and couldn't get off the ship until customs arrrived to clear us. This made me so glad that I had the coverage from AIG to give me peace of mind because it could have been me as one of the emergencies.

Most plans with AIG show minimal medical benefits. AND - they are listed as "secondary". What is unexplained is - USA medicare or supplemental plans are not honored in most countries. Question is - will secondary coverage pay for anything when medicare is not accepted if medical treatment is necessary?

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. This is a great question, and we feel as though it deserves a public reply. Secondary coverage will pay you after any other Primary insurance has paid the claim and the Primary policies' limits have been exhausted. This means that a Secondary policy may pay for any of the following, after you have filed your claim with your Primary Insurer: your full medical bill, a portion of your medical bill that was not covered by your Primary insurance policy, and/or any deductibles that your Primary insurance company may require you to pay. With this policy, you are typically not required to have a Primary coverage. If you do not maintain a Primary insurance policy, you would be able to file through a Secondary insurance plan directly. I only purchased the AIG Travel Guard Medevac Per Trip Plan so that I could get back home if I were I injured or became ill. Thankfully I didn't need to use the plan. Although I thought the price was a little high, I felt it was better to purchase the plan than to need it but not have it. Overall, I was satisfied with the plan.
