Overall, the plan was of good value and covered the costs of the trip we needed reimbursed. However, after filing the claim, we were asked for every piece of documentation regarding cost of the trip which was over 100 pages of receipts. One suggested improvement is to streamline this process better.

I had a flat tire on the Amalfi Coast road in Italy. The Italian rental car agency took care of it,sending a tow truck and calling us a taxi to get us to a hotel. But I called Travel Guard anyway just to make sure they knew we'd had an accident in case I needed them later. In this case the rental agency handled everything at no cost to me, but I felt more secure knowing Travel Guard had my back!

AIG rejected my claim for travel insurance for our cancelled trip to Italy due to a back problem. I was given different reasons for my rejection and it took 10 months to get my final rejection. I talked with 8 different AIG Travel staff including the President of the company. There were several delays in responses every step of the way in my appeal. Misinformation was given to the NYS Dept. of Finance by AIG. My treatment was unethical and I would never recommend this company to anyone.
