The AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold plan offers mid-level coverage and more options than Travel Guard Basic and Travel Guard Silver, allowing you to customize the plan to best fit your needs. In addition to Trip Cancellation, this plan offers Cancel for Any Reason coverage and a Pre-Existing Conditions Waiver. Children age 17 and under are free when there is at least one covered adult on the plan.

We experienced a travel delay of a week while in the UK and a new itinerary that involved a new plane flight. Our car rental for that week was not covered, but meals and lodging and new flight and missed nonrefundable lodging were covered. It took several months to resolve the claim and then paid promptly.

A friend had the same plan and had to cancel their trip for medical reasons. AIG has given them the run a round for months. I would never use AIG based on their experience alone.

I am a huge believer in travel insurance. I tell everyone to get insurance. However I bought insurance for 3 of us traveling together, but forgot to buy it separately for my husband who had 2 doctor visits, a hospital trip and an early departure. Don't forget to cover everyone!
