The AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold plan offers mid-level coverage and more options than Travel Guard Basic and Travel Guard Silver, allowing you to customize the plan to best fit your needs. In addition to Trip Cancellation, this plan offers Cancel for Any Reason coverage and a Pre-Existing Conditions Waiver. Children age 17 and under are free when there is at least one covered adult on the plan.

I would never travel without insurance, just in case, but I would like to see the company do a review of its rates. Are the rates in line with the number of claims paid? The process of purchasing the policy and the options available are top notch. I understand that they are a business and need to make money, but a review of the rates is my recommendation. My husband and I and the others that we have traveled with have always used this company.

I had to file a claim with AIG. Even though I disagree with their final decision, I do and will respect their rules and guidelines. Another plus is AIG actually calls and explain the final decision. I was expecting a paper letter a few months later and close my case. It was nice talking to a friendly person. Again, as much as I disagree with their decision with my claim, I'm buying another AIG Travel Guard plan for the next trip. Great customer service.

Though I did not need to use the plan, there were problems the week prior to my arrival with to much snowfall , with roads and railroad shut down and avalanche threats. People at resort were stranded there and other skiers looking to get in were in able to get into town. It was nice knowing if I was to be rerouted that I would have been reimbursed for my loss.

Because of an emergency situation, I left 3 days earlier than my original plan. Although it was Jan. 1st 2018, an agent @ AIG walked through and made sure that my policy was right and it was free of charge.

I purchased the coverage in case of an ice/snow storm that may have prevented travel out of North Carolina. That sometimes happens in January-March. Luckily, I did not have to use it for the day of travel but as things happen two days before leaving we received 10 inches of snow. The trip to the airport was ice covered and slow, but we made it. The plane was delayed because of a deicing issue, but we were able to get to our destination as planned! The coverage of the insurance assured, peace of mind surrounding my financial outlay.

The two times I contacted for coverage I was told it was not covered. Missing a plane and extending my coverage time frame. I don’t see the benefit you offer. I would not recommend your company.

Thank you for submitting your comments. As you were advised by AIG, you can only extend a comprehensive plan prior to your departure date. In addition, we can certainly understand your disappointment when AIG advised you that there was no coverage for your missed flight. However, all comprehensive plans including your AIG Travel Guard Gold plan are "named peril" policies that would only reimburse you for specific covered reasons that are listed in the policy.
For example, why did you miss your flight? Your policy would provide coverage for Travel Delay but only if you were delayed more than five consecutive days for the following reasons:
"(a) the Insured being involved in or delayed due to a traffic
accident while en route to a departure as substantiated by a police report;
(b) Common Carrier delay;
(c) the Insured’s or Traveling Companion’s lost or stolen
passports, travel documents or money;
(d) reasons listed under Trip Cancellation and Interruption."
We regret that you are not pleased with this purchase. Nevertheless we do hope that you will consider calling InsureMyTrip customer care in the future for assistance in quoting and purchasing a policy. Each Company will base the premiums of their plans by 3 main factors; (1) the ages of the travelers, (2) the length of your trip from home to home and (3) the total cost of your pre-paid trip cost. As the traveler's ages change, trip costs increase or the length of the trip is extended, the prices will also change accordingly. Typically, the number of claims filed or paid would not have an effect on the rate of the policy that is provided.
