The AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold plan offers mid-level coverage and more options than Travel Guard Basic and Travel Guard Silver, allowing you to customize the plan to best fit your needs. In addition to Trip Cancellation, this plan offers Cancel for Any Reason coverage and a Pre-Existing Conditions Waiver. Children age 17 and under are free when there is at least one covered adult on the plan.

I purchased 6 months of insurance and was forced to return from Germany after three months. I called and tried to get at least a partial refund or a pause in service. AIG did nothing to work with me. Told me I was out of luck. I travel often to Europe and in fact returning there next month for another 3 months, with the possibility of long if a language visa is granted. Because your company gave zero effort in helping me, not only will I not use your service again, but I will be encouraging all my friends and family who travel with me to not use your service. A customer service rep may contact me if a desire to rectify the situation is the aim, otherwise, don't bother.

We have always purchased travel insurance to have a peace of mind should something unexpected occurs. Fortunately we did not need to file a claim on this trip. We once had to file a claim about 5 years ago and everything was handled professionally and without any problems. We will continue to buy Travel Guard travel insurance for our future trips.

I didn't need to use my insurance, but several years ago when I did need to make a claim it was handled wonderfully, and I was very pleased. I am always a little unsure on cancellation reasons if I am covered for step-family illness or death or other close relatives who are not siblings, children, parents.

Thank you for the feedback about your policy. All the coverages for cancellation are listed within the full details of the policy as well as the definition for 'family member.' Typically, policies will include step-siblings and step-parents within their definition. However, these policies are state specific and may vary so it is beneficial to check the plan certificate before purchasing. Although I am completely happy with the plan I feel that the plan costs have risen lately so that they are almost what I would pay with my travel company and their insurance covers medical expense as "primary", not secondary
