Although I did not need to file a claim before, during or after my trip it gave me a degree of peace of mind knowing that I was protected in the event something did happen to interrupt my trip. I was pleased with the coverage I had.

This is the first time I have had to file a claim despite using Allianz a number of times to insure my trips. The claims process is agonizingly slow and bureaucratic. For example: they require that the claim naturally include "proof of payment" without any specific definition. I sent my invoice for the trip from the tour company which showed the total cost of the trip 9287.04USD; the total amount paid 9287.04USD and the total amount due 0USD. That wasn't good enough. Many days later I was informed that I must submit copies of my credit card showing payment and including the last 4 digits of the card used. It would have been helpful to have this info at the start. Telephone calls to Allianz staff were less then helpful. I finally demanded to speak to someone "in charge" and was referred to Alan. He was extremely helpful and expedited the "decision process".

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Requesting a Customer Advocate is as simple as calling 800-487-4722 or emailing customercare@insuremytrip.com, explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.

It's difficult to evaluate something I never had cause to use. I'm glad I didn't need to use the insurance but your questions aren't pertinent. Sort of like asking me if I liked driving a particular car when I was never in the vehicle, let alone having driven it.

I would recommend the plan to others but based only on the written coverages and promises made by your company. Again, I never filed a claim and as far as I'm concerned, that is where the rubber meets the road.

My wife and I had planned our 25th Wedding Anniversary 3-week trip to the Mid-East (Israel, Jordan, and Istanbul)in June 2012.

I did not purchase Trip Insurance when the airline tickets were booked, but my wife kept suggesting that given the political unrest, we should buy the insurance which I did in January 2013.

Exactly one week prior to our May 12th departure, I fell in our home. I went to the Urgent Care Center in Wilmington, DE thinking that I had only bruised a muscle in my leg. X-rays were taken and the attending physician asked if I had travel insurance informing me that I had fractured my fibula and would be in no condition to travel to the Mid-East.

I filed an onlineclaim with Allianz and provided all of the necessary medical recorts, trip costs, etc. Our claim was promptly handled and we were sent checks to reimburse us for the the cost of our tickets to the mid-easet. Allianz was fantastic.

I will never plan another trip without also purchasing Trip Insurance.
