With features like comprehensive trip cancellation and primary emergency medical coverage, 24-hour travel assistance, and optional benefits to tailor the plan to your travel needs, the Allianz Classic plan is a good plan for people or families going on vacation. Plus, kids 17 and under are covered for free when traveling with a parent or grandparent.

Allianz Global Assistance Classic
I was not able to make the trip due to a hospitalization and treatment. Allianz Global denied the claim determining the cause, and eating disorder, was neurosis driven, and not a medical condition despite serious health risks related to heart condition, vital nutrients and other medical factors. An eating disorder is a disease and the policy and interpretation of the policy resulted in a denial of the claim, even though a medical doctor stated not fit to travel and such information was provided to Allianz Global, our appeal was denied, they absolutely suck, their marketing and promotion is totally bogus, they will find a way to deny a claim.

    They did the same thing to me. After I booked my hotel room, my 17 year old daughter experienced a mental health issue. The booking was many months out from the actual trip, but my daughter's condition did not improve as much as we'd hoped and her doctor and I agreed that I shouldn't be gone for this trip. I was denied. I guess my daughter's life and mental well being weren't good enough reasons to miss a business trip for Allianz! Won't make that mistake again.

      Thank you very much for your feedback. We understand that it is frustruating to receive a denial for reimbursement under the Trip Cancellation coverage. Unfortunately, mental, nervous, or psychological disorders are excluded on almost every travel insurance policy. The one exception is that some plans will provide coverage for a mental, nervous, or psychological disorder which results in hospitalization.

      If your primary trip cancellation concern is a mental, nervous, or psychological disorder, obtaining a Cancel For Any Reason benefit is advised. If you qualify for Cancel For Any Reason, you can literally cancel your trip for any reason.

      The Cancel For Any Reason benefit has a few eligibility criteria:

      1) Depending on the policy, Cancel For Any Reason is only available within 10-30 days after making the initial trip payment
      2) You must insure 100% of the pre-paid, non-refundable trip cost
      3) Depending on the policy, cancellation with the travel supplier must occur 48 or 72 hours before departure date

      Benefits may only cover between 50%-75% of the pre-paid, non-refundable trip cost.

Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. You can request a Customer Advocate by calling 800-487-4722 or emailing customercare@insuremytrip.com, explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.

Allianz Global Assistance Classic
During travel earlier this year by a close relative, he discovered how valuable his insurance plan purchased with this group was. Fortunately he didn't need to use it for any catastrophic episode but he was able to file a claim and be reimbursed for the portion of his trip he could not use because of a knee injury he incurred on a walk through a foreign city. He convinced us to purchase from this group and while we did not need to file any claims, we had peace of mind that this group would have taken care of our needs.

The cost seems a bit high since I am sure that a strong majority of people never need to file a claim. The car rental option should have a higher maximum value. $40,000 does not cover a decent rental vehicle.

Due to Hurricane Matthew, we rescheduled our trip to Disney, a few days later than originally planned. Because we had not filed a claim from the first dates, they kindly extended the policy to fit the new dates with no extra charge. The whole trip was cancelled due to the inability to get flights to meet our updated bookings. No fees incurred for cancellations, money refunded. So, the ONLY expense we incurred was the cost of the insurance on a trip we did not take! Don't suppose they would extend it again for December when we will try again.

We did not file a claim, so it is hard to evaluate the plan accurately. Overall, the good points are the price and the primary coverage. The unknowns are associated with filing a claim and receiving reimbursement. I cannot comment on that aspect. In comparison to other plans, the cost is slightly lower, which is good if you don't need to file a claim.
