I chose the 'cancel for any reason' option, and when I contacted a representative by phone, I was told my claim was valid, and would be paid. Once I was assigned a (different) representative for email contact, she told me my claim was not covered. I persisted and asked to have a claim form sent to me so I could file. In the end, it was, in fact, covered. If I had not been persistent, I would have lost hundreds of dollars.

Based on your review, it appears you took the steps that we would have recommended, but we do want you and your fellow customers to be aware that InsureMyTrip offers a Customer Advocate Program. Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. We had no issues, our 2 week trip went as planned and we had no need to file any claim. We had peace of mind knowing our trip was covered IF needed for any reason.

I think the cost is very high and will be looking for a less expensive one for future trips. I think our age had something to do with it. We had the assurance that we had the coverage and didn't have to file a claim.

I can't evaluate their claim response, since I didn't need to file. I really liked the ID cards and luggage tags included in the package. I printed them, covered them in clear tape, and carried/attached to our bags. This is a small "benefit" they provided to everyone, not just those with a claimable loss.

my trip was unexpectedly interrupted by my wife's altitude illness at 12,000 feet. April Insurance reimbursed me for my portion of the group trip costs as well as lodging costs after the interruption. However, I was unable to speak to anyone at April and they only responded via email. This lack of personal contact was disappointing. It took about 7 weeks from submission of the claim to receive our reimbursement.

Buying insurance has always been a dilemma for me. I hate putting out the money for something that I may not use but then, you just never know. I'm a risk person so I probably won't buy trip insurance again.
