This was my first experience with travel insurance. I was unaware of the restrictions accompanying typical polices. I did not know, for example, that I had to obtain the insurance within 15 days of my initial payment for my trip in order to be eligible for pre-existing conditions coverage. This meant that for my August trip, I would have had to buy the insurance in January to have pre-existing conditions covered! I believe that I knew intuitively that the closer one gets to the trip date the more expensive would be the coverage so I was not surprised by that but only the amount that the difference would be.

I didn't have to file a claim, so I'm assuming their service would have been as good as I expected. I did notify them of a possible claim and they responded, so the communication was there. The benefits of the plan and the cost seem very fair. I've already bought coverage from April Travel Protection for a future trip.
