Since I had canceled my trip for 2019, and rescheduled it for 2020 I didn’t use the insurance that I had purchased. There was a ton of red tape In order to change the dates from 2019 to the 2020 trip. It would have been easier to get congress to actually do something, than to change the dates on the policy. Basically I ended up wasting the cost of the policy, and will just get another one for the 2020 trip.

Thank you for your review. Insurance providers do allow travelers to transfer their policies from one trip to another. By transferring the policy to a future trip it allows customers to not lose the premium paid for the original policy, but it does require certain documentation to be submitted. Upon notice of the transfer request, an email is sent to the customer with the documentation requirements before the request is sent to the provider for processing. This is my 18th purchase of travel insurance from Insuremytrip.com. I've only needed it once... That bill was $279,000.00 covered by my health insurance plan and nearly $14,000 of uncovered expenses paid out within 10 days by my travel insurance.
Thankfully, I didn't need it this time either, but I'd never leave home without it, EVER! And neither should you!
BTW, took the Platinum plan rather than the basic coverage because Medicare does not cover any medical expenses outside of the United States and while Medicare supplement plans sometimes provide a once in a lifetime time $50,000 maximum payment, see my bill above to understand why that's useless!! TRAVEL INSURANCE! Don't leave home without it.

Once again we did not need to use the insurance but, it feels real good knowing it is there. I have filed a claim only once in the last ten years. It was paid as filed in about two weeks after the paperwork was submitted.

Insurance is always a good idea when planning a pricey once-in-a-lifetime dream vacation. Fortunately, our trip was fully enjoyed without any interruption or issue. Having this coverage gave us peace of mind knowing that if anything went off the rails, our financial loss would be minimized.

I had to cancel my trip because of unexpected health issues. AXA uses a subcontractor to actually process the claim. The amount of detailed documentation demanded, and the unending requests for "more" information, dragged for months. Although they did finally reimburse for the appropriate expenses, I actually reduced the amount of my claim during the process because Delta unexpectedly refunded the cost my "nonrefundable" tickets; kudos to Delta. I don't know how AXA would have handled the plane ticket costs or change fee had we needed to resolve that issue, since I couldn't travel within the allotted time frame of allowable reticketing.
