Claim was handled fairly but very slowly. They received our claim in their office on February 22, 2017 and responded, "We are currently experiencing very high claim volume. Please allow us time to review the information received." They didn't issue check to pay this claim until March 17th. I think they need to hire more claims adjusters to handle claims in a more prompt fashion.

Unfortunately after booking our cruise, my arthritic right shoulder became extremely painful causing me to seek medical care and arthroscopic surgery was scheduled weeks later, and we had to cancel our vacation. I contacted CSA and completed all the documents and my physician did as well. Bottom line, because I have had arthritis in my shoulder prior to paying for the insurance (which we purchased ONLY because of fear weather conditions would prohibit travel, we live in WNY), we were NOT reimbursed because it was a pre-existing condition. We have purchased travel insurance from CSA numerous times and this ONE time needing to take advantage of the insurance, it was denied. I (we) never would have booked a vacation if there were any indication this unforeseen circumstance would have evolved. Can you please review and reconsider my claim? Thank you

You can reduce the cost of your insurance if you don't include any portions of your trip for which you have free cancellation privileges. Why insure it if you can cancel it at no cost?

    Thank you very much for pointing this out to your fellow travelers. The cost of your trip is used to calculate the amount of your Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage. Trip Cost is used also to determine the price for each plan.

    Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage reimburses you should your trip be cancelled or interrupted for a covered reason. Be sure to insure the full amount of your prepaid and non-refundable travel arrangements; you can have trouble with claims if you don't. Non-prepaid and refundable items are not covered.

Bought cruise insurance several times . Never needed to use it until this past February. Diagnosed with spine issue that required immediate surgery . Dr advised against travel . No problem .. I have insurance . Filed claim with all dr documentation, test results, etc ... CSA would not return my calls ... left several voicemails .. was even transferred to a supervisor after several days of no return calls . Answering machine says they will return calls within 24 hours .. been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting . Denied claim (of course) due to preexisting condition??? Received notice in mail .. would not talk to me in person. This is how this company operates ... they lost a good customer and several more as a travel with a group of 15-20 every time and they will also go elsewhere . Avoid CSA if you want insurance coverage that you can count on . Poor poor excuse BTW ... it wouldn't matter if I marked to have a representative contact me ... I waited for a month and left several voicemails for return calls . Terrible terrible service!

We also offer a free look back period with all of our plans to allow customers to cancel their policies within a designated period as long as they haven't already left on their trip or filed a claim. Our Trip Cancellation coverage is designed to reimburse you for your prepaid non-refundable trip costs should you have to cancel your trip due to an unforeseen covered event, such as a sickness or injury of yourself, a family member or traveling companion. While our Custom Luxe plan is able to provide coverage for losses resulting from pre-existing medical conditions if certain requirements are met, the plan must be purchased prior to the condition’s unforeseen worsening in order to provide reimbursement.
