Like all insurance policies, this was protection should the unexpected befall us. Thus, it is difficult to fully assess my "satisfaction with the plan" since, fortunately, I did not have to file a claim. But, more important, it provided me with the peace of mind that I needed while traveling in a foreign country.

Fortunately, we did not have to use plan so I can't really testify how good it was. Hopefully, if we did have to use plan it would have provided all the protection it said it would.

We had bought ferry tkt to travel between islands in Greece. The day of travel the ferries went on strike. Generali reimbursed us for the expensive airfare we had to buy to get off the island.
The reimbursed us for taxi fares even though we had no receipts from the drivers.
Paid for a meal for which we had a receipt. Not knowing if we were going to reimbursed for our loss we stayed at an inexpensive hotel overnight which they reimbursed as well. They do not give daily allowance or for bags delayed unless you go buy clothes as our bags did not come with our flight.
I still rate them highly for their quick response to claim submitted received payment in 2 weeks.

I had to replace my wife with my son prior to the trip. While it was somewhat tedious, I was able to remove my wife from our policy and take out a new policy for my son. The net cost was lower due to the reduction in age. The rep at the company was very helpful.

Recommend that you read the fine print on each policy, especially if you're comparing plans. There's is a different interpretation of conditions that will be classified for the policy to pay out for specific coverage. For example "trip disruption" vs "trip delay" is interpreted differently by each insurer, as a result, you may get a payout for the trip delay instead of trip disruption (big difference in the amount paid) and it's totally different between each company what is actually covered by the policy, or you may not get payout at all depending on the circumstance that caused "condition" to occur.

    Travel insurance plans are "named peril" policies which means only those perils/hazards that are specifically listed in the policy are covered. In addition, all plans have their "exclusions and limitations" which may effect your coverage. Since policy terms and conditions vary from plan to plan and are also state-specific, this does create discrepancies in coverage between plans.

My wife fell and injured herself on the way to the airport for our trip. She needed to be hospitalized and so we were unable to make the trip. The injury was covered under the plan and we were eventually paid. To get paid, we had to get doctor's reports and validation of rentals paid directly from the owner of the property even though I had paperwork indicating that the payments I had made were non-refundable. We did get reimbursed, but it took a while. We were glad we had taken out the policy.

I was shocked to find out our airline delay due to TSA at a connecting airport was not a covered feature. Fortunately, Turkish Airlines re wrote out ticket even though it was not their fault of a missed connection. They were going to charge us $6000 each for a one way ticket from Istanbul to LAX. We were under the impression that this would be a covered feature.

    Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn of the unfortunate event that occurred during your trip. Unfortunately, no Comprehensive plan will cover a TSA delay as that is not considered a Common Carrier delay. We are pleased to hear that the airline did help you in that instance.
