The plan was great. The problem was that I had no idea that insurance should have been purchased at the same time, or nearly the same time that I purchased my airline tickets. Because I did not purchase my plan in a timely manner there was something (I can't remember what) I was not eligible for.

We had to cancel our trip to Hawaii due to medical issues, after purchasing non-refundable resort and air costs.
Thankfully, both the resort and Delta happily rescheduled our trip to later this year with no penalty; when we contacted Genrali to move our trip insurance to the new date, we were informed the price would now be $600, twice the original cost.
Customer service gave us the option to cancel the trip insurance through a process they call "exceptions," in which they will refund the original cost if provided evidence that the trip had been rescheduled with no penalties. I sent all documentation, including emails from the resort and changed plane reservations that clearly showed no penalty fee charged. Not good enough for Generali.
I guess I should have just filed a claim for the $5,000 trip cost, instead of trying to be the "good guy" and change the reservations to a time when we can travel. This is why we can't have nice things.
Live and learn. Would never buy trip insurance through this company again.

I think this plan is OVER PRICED for a 16 day coverage. Happy I did not have to use it & deal with any hassles with the insurance company I made my purchase from.

We did not need to use this trip insurance but have had to do so at various times in the past. For any trip that involves substantial cost, my wife and I always purchase trip insurance.

I used CSA on a previous trip. I was hospitalized for a week in Venice, Italy. They performed remarkably well, aiding me at every step in postponing flights, arranging transport back to the USA, etc. Could not have asked for better. Needless to say, I use them each time, now.

Comprehensive plan premiums are calculated based on the age of the travelers, trip cost, and length of trip. You chose to purchase the Generali Premium plan which was one of the few plans that included the preexisting condition waiver as long as you purchased the policy prior to or on the date of final payment and insured the total cost of your trip. The Premium plan was also the most expensive of the Generali plans since it offered very generous coverage limits and broad terms and conditions.
In the future, you may wish to call us for a quote within 10 days of your initial trip payment for more competitive pricing on plans offering the preexisting condition waiver. We are available weekdays from 7:00 am to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET.
