We didn't encounter any problems with our flights or hotels so it is kind of hard to say if this plan would have covered those losses. It was comforting to know we had this coverage.

We were not able to review the plan within the free 10-day window and would have cancelled policy if we did. The exclusion clause included "pandemic" which we are still experiencing. We were lucky that there were no trip cancellations, interruptions, or delays due to restrictions or COVID surge. Other travel insurance company have a much better cancellation policy.

We were told after we filed our claim that the maximum benefit they could give us was $300.00 Our expenses were more than that for the extra day. We paid almost that much for the insurance, so I guess we almost broke even. It was very difficult to file a claim. I spent hours doing it as I am no computer expert and it was hard to provide all the receipts. I don't think it was worth it in the long run.

We settled on Generali Global travel insurance by doing a comparison using a chart provided on the internet. We felt that Generali provided the coverage that we were most concerned with i.e. delayed travel, insurance if we had to cancel our trip or if we had to cut our trip short due to illness as we have an elderly mother. Luckily we did not have to make any claims as our vacation went very smooth. It is nice to know that we had coverage just the same.

When I fell off a poorly designed sidewalk in Lahaina, HI, while trying to assess whether or not I was injured enough to require medical attention, the thought crossed my mind "this is what trip insurance is for". IF I had needed medical attention we would have missed the cruise ship back to the mainland, so it would have been a "major glitch" in the program. Luckily, I was able to walk away with a few scrapes, bumps and bruises and recuperate during the 5 days at sea.
I will never again waiver as to whether or not trip insurance is necessary! IT IS.

We are very glad to hear that you did not suffer serious injuries in your fall. It is not uncommon for travelers to view the cost of travel insurance as a waste of money, that is until they need it. Many of the travel insurance providers are covering Covid-19 as any other unforeseen illness, if you are to contract the virus and the plan's definition of Sickness is met. Coverages can include trip cancellation, if it occurs during your trip, as well as trip interruption, trip delay, medical and medical evacuation if it is contracted while on the trip.
However, any sort of travel bans, government shutdowns, or fear of traveling due to Covid-19 would require the "Cancel For Any Reason" protection.
