We needed a plan that would provide for pre-existing conditions for our sister who we were traveling with. We've always purchased trip insurance, but never needed the pre-existing conditions waiver. Even though availability of these type plans was limited, we found Global Alert! to offer what we needed at the best price.

This plan had the coverage I was looking for at a price that was SO much better than what the cruise lines offer. What was also really great was that I was able to purchase the insurance a week before my trip. I was very satisfied with the coverage and the price.

Thankfully did not have to use the coverage, but had peace of mind knowing we had it should it be needed. Unfortunately, a passenger on our cruise did have to be airlifted. Although we would have preferred a little smaller premium, it was worth it knowing the coverage was there if needed.

We had to use the cancel for any reason benefit on our plan. I am very pleased in the way our claim was handled, and with the payment they made to us. We had absolutely no hassles and everyone we talked to on the phone was very helpful.
The most important thing you should do is read what is required to file a claim as soon as you make purchase (or before). They will require clear documentation of everything, which is fair and to be expected, but I'm guessing you'd be out of luck if you didn't have copies of everything.

I purchased this plan for 2 main reasons. 1. My daughter has some medical issues and if she had a problem and we had to cancel. 2. as we were cruising during hurricane season and had to cancel or were rerouted because of a storm. I purchased cancel for any reason protection. There was a hurricane and when I called 3 days before cruise left to see if I could cancel they said no because we had to cancel 2 days before we left home. We left home a week before the cruise and spent time in a hotel in Florida, there is no way to predict where a hurricane was going that far in advance. We went on the cruise got seasick, missed the ports we were supposed to go to, and general had a lousy time. Spent $ on coverage that we couldn't use when we needed it. Very dissapointing.

Cancel for Any Reason is a benefit that must be used at least 2 days prior to the day you leave your home. Once you have left on your trip, it is no longer an option.Sep 14,2011
