Global Alert! Preferred Plus
I have in the past used Global Alert many times successfully. Now, I DO NOT recommend them.
I recently took a 4 month trip. I had pneumonia and saw 2 doctors and a hospital, straight illness claim. I filed the claim the day after we returned. (May 3), I was told on May 10th, good to go to process. On May 21st, I called to check on claim, Trip Mate has sold my claim to Broadspire for processing. Trip mate (who legally owns the claim), has no status, the file is closed. Broadspire, is a workers comp processor, does not answer the phone. Leave a message. No Update on my claim. This process started on May 1, 2018, there was no notification, only status update that my claim was closed and no benefits paid.

Who needs this grief, Do not use this company Global Alert, if they are aligned with TripMate. You have no idea what's happening. No idea of claim status. Its been 4 weeks and I have no idea who has the file or when it will be paid.

    Global Alert, who is no longer writing new travel insurance policies, is in the process of securing a new underwriter. In the meantime, TripMate who previously handled claims for Global Alert, has transferred all responsibilities to Broadspire. You will be pleased to hear that Broadspire was very amenable to expediting your claim.

    Upon receiving your comments, we assigned your claim to Gail who is your Anytime Advocate. Gail contacted Broadspire who assured us that a claims representative would contact you to advise you that she would be processing your claim. If the company has all the documentation, Broadspire should be able to process your payment immediately and send it to management for final review.

    In the meantime, we are publishing your review but request that you let us know once you have received your check. You can call Customer Care weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET.

Claim and paperwork submitted October 4th, 2017. Final ck written by Trip Mate, Global Alert's underwriters dated January 12, 2018. Postmark on envelope for that check - February 7, 2018! Insure my trip provided an agent, Gail, who was fabulous in contacting Trip Mate ( aka GLobal Alert ) several times on my behalf, always keeping me informed. However, for their claims administrator to send payment in the incorrect currency after reviewing every bit of travel documentation, including receipts, is an indication of poor training, lack of attention to detail and of course prolonged reimbursement. Bottom line: The company made more than my premium be delaying payment of a legitimate claim. They also seem to be very understaffed.

Thankfully, we didn't have to use our trip insurance, so I can't comment on the actual processing of a complaint. But the agent who helped me pick the plan was very knowledgeable, professional, and prompt in addressing my specific needs.

I travel to Europe twice a year. I always purchase insurance. I’ve never needed to use it. The one time I thought I might have a medical issue requiring attention I was able to get immediate contact/feedback/instructions on how to proceed. I’m very satisfied with the excellent customer service I received.

Global Alert! Preferred Plus
The most wonderful thing to be said about a travel insurance plan is that you didn't need to use it. I have had travel insurance from Insure My Trip for two years and, thankfully, have never had to use it. However, the selection and purchase of the coverage my husband and I needed was handled very professionally and I felt that we were given every conceivable kind of information we would need if there had been a problem that involved filing a claim.

As we are on Medicare now, there is NO coverage when we travel internationally and we must rely on the travel insurance we select to cover our needs should be become sick or injured while traveling.

I will certainly use Insure My Trip for my next international travel. Their people are great!

Global Alert! Preferred Plus
This is a perfect plan for medical coverage when traveling internationally. We had trip interruption and cancellation insurance with our COSTCO Citibank Visa card, but it did not cover medical insurance for our 3 week trip to Italy. The Preferred Plus Plan was affordable, and the coverage gave us a peace of mind. There is no doubt that I will use Insure My Trip in future travels.

I'm grateful that I did not have to use the coverage, so I cannot comment on whether the company was good or not. (Which might be one of the more important considerations). I always choose carefully to ensure the plan will adequately cover things that are most important to me. This plan had it all and gave me peace of mind.
