We did not have to use it. But, we had peace of mind. Very affordable. I will buy again for any international travel.

Easy to obtain and peace of mind in case of a medical emergency. Most people don't realize if you are in Medicare and need/obtain medical services out of the U.S., MMEDICARE WILL NOT COVER YOUR EXPENSES.

Please note that Basic Medicare does not provide coverage outside the United States. However, many of the supplemental plans do offer varying amounts of reimbursement. You should always check with your supplemental plan provider to see if coverage is available to you.

The trip included a
tour
MEDEX TravMed Choice Outbound
Toward the end of my trip I became pretty sick. We were in a far flung place, so I asked the tour guide to call his company and tell them I wanted to return home. (They had my insurance information.) I was told that I could sign off the tour and I'd then be on my own. I was way too ill to handle anything myself, and there was no phone access.
So all I could do was stay in bed alone for the rest of the trip.
My question is this: if one is really ill, as i was, then just how is one meant to contact the insurance company and arrange to be helped?

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you became ill during your trip.

The best way to obtain assistance from the insurance provider is to contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company by calling the toll-free or collect-call telephone numbers printed on your ID card or emailing [email protected]. "Upon your request, MEDEX will provide referrals to pre-approved physicians, hospitals, dentists, and dental clinics in the area you are traveling in order to assist you in locating appropriate treatment and quality care."

If the condition is an emergency, please call the local 911 to be taken to the nearest physician or hospital, and then contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company as soon as reasonably possible.

Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns.

Didn't need it but glad it was there just in case. Bought it after reading multiple reviews on several companies. Thanks for the peace of mind.

Called with a medical problem and had to create a claim number just to get information and this was not quick.

Information received about locations for medical help was too simplistic and way too far to travel. It seems the coverage is good for London and surrounding area, but no doctors or locations available even in the middle of England.

What is the point in the service if the deductibles are going to be more than the bill itself.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you incurred a medical expense while traveling. One of the main advantages of travel insurance is that it provides reimbursement of medical bills incurred as the result of a catastrophic, accidental injury or a severe, emergency illness while traveling. Sometimes, like in your case, a smaller medical bill does not exceed the plan deductible and is therefore out of your own pocket.

Single-Trip Medical plans such as the MEDEX TravMed Choice Outbound plan, have a default deductible of 250 USD. Single-Trip Medical plans offer the option of decreasing the deductible by increasing the policy premium. The MEDEX TravMed Choice Outbound plan offers an option for a 100 USD deductible.

In the future, please consider calling InsureMyTrip at 800-487-4722 prior to purchase. Our representatives would be happy to assist you in locating the correct and adequate policies based on your primary concerns.
