We had to file a claim. We were on a cruise and my husband needed medical assistance. I called the number with the policy (the ship provided a phone line), and the rep could confirm we had a policy but not guarantee specific coverage. I get it--they're not claim adjustors. He gave me the number of someone else, who did the same. So I didn't get the confirmation/explanation I was looking for, but went ahead and hoped for the best.
Great results: filing was easy. Did everything on line when I got home. Glad I had purchased the policy shortly after we booked the trip because I didn't have to worry about the pre-existing conditions clause. (Wouldn't have applied, but didn't want any possible snags.) Got an email from Nationwide saying they had received the claim within a day. Two weeks later I have a check mailed to us for the full amount of the medical charges. (And medical charges on a ship are EXPENSIVE!) I wish their website would have been able to give an update, but I can live with that. I would buy from them again!

Purchasing coverage was easy. I like that I received correspondence about my coverage shortly before my trip. I’ve purchased trip insurance in the past and never received correspondence from the insurance company reviewing the benefits of the policy. Fortunately, I did not need to use the coverage so I cannot comment on the claim service. I would buy coverage again for the peace of mind in purchasing non-refundable airfare and/or hotel rooms.

I had to visit the Medical Center onboard the ship. The charge was approximately $300. I was able to file a claim online while I was still on the ship. Within two weeks I was reimbursed for the total amount. Very pleased with the process to file a claim.

Luxury Cruise
We ended up having our Haiti day changed to Jamaica at the last minute due to political unrest. Our Aruba & Curacao stops were unchanged. I wish it was easier to understand exactly what coverage I purchased ahead of time. I purchased an additional health policy from GeoBlue because I could not understand completely what medical was included in this plan.
