Purchasing coverage was easy. I like that I received correspondence about my coverage shortly before my trip. I’ve purchased trip insurance in the past and never received correspondence from the insurance company reviewing the benefits of the policy. Fortunately, I did not need to use the coverage so I cannot comment on the claim service. I would buy coverage again for the peace of mind in purchasing non-refundable airfare and/or hotel rooms.

I had to visit the Medical Center onboard the ship. The charge was approximately $300. I was able to file a claim online while I was still on the ship. Within two weeks I was reimbursed for the total amount. Very pleased with the process to file a claim.

We usually buy the Nationwide Essential travel insurance at the same time we make tour/travel reservations. Although tour companies offer similar coverage, it usually costs more. A couple of times we have needed to adjust the dates of coverage a little (i.e. extended the trip or airline schedule changes) and were able to modify coverage dates fairly easily with no additional cost. Fortunately, we have not needed to file a claim for the 6 or 8 trips we have insured, so I can't comment on the claim process. Overall, the Nationwide Essential Plan seems adequate and flexible enough to allow us to customize of coverage to meet our needs.

I paid extra $1,300 for my flight from London to Manila with Air China because my original flight with Shenzhen Airlines ($999) was postponed for the next day. It was a Sunday, their office was closed, have tried calling them, I even went to the airport but Shenzhen Air didn't have any representative there. I wanted to explain to them that I won't make it to my connecting flight in Bao'an China if I take their postponed flight.
Nationwide paid only $600 for the new flight that I paid after Shenzhen messed up everything for mine and my husband's flight.
