Did not have to file a claim thankfully. Insuremytrip did an A+ job of making shopping/comparing plans easy. Also A+ for getting the policy to me after purchase and even sent a reminder just before our trip about policy details and how to get in contact with them should a claim become necessary.

I went on a cruise to Hawaii and it was so rough we were unable to stop in Maui where I had a hotel reserved. I called and was told this was not trip interruption and I should have gotten cruise insurance. I got this insurance because I was going places other than the cruise (like Maui). Anyway, I'm out $300.00 and the cost of the useless insurance.

There are some insurance providers that offer Cruise policies, these are policies that offer cruise specific benefits. I thought we purchased a good plan with good coverage. I have had an open claim since October, I do not think this is a reasonable timeframe for resolution. I was told before Christmas that the claim was close to being finalized. When I followed up over a month ago, I was told it was being reviewed by a supervisor and would hear shortly. When I called today, I was told the same. Everyone else that traveled with me has been reimbursed by their insurance companies months ago, I am very disappointed. I just received an email saying the claim was denied. Why did that take 5 months?

    Thank you very much for your review. However, your claim was correctly denied by the insurance company since it did not meet the crteria listed in the policy which is stated below:

    "TRIP INTERRUPTION
    The Company will pay a benefit, up to the maximum shown on the Confirmation of Coverage, if You are unable to continue on Your Covered Trip due to:
    .....
    (j) Natural disaster at the site of Your destination that renders the destination accommodations uninhabitable;
    (l) Weather that causes complete cessation of services of the Common Carrier for at least twenty-four (24) consecutive."

    In order for a claim to be payable, it must meet one of the criteria in the policy, such as, these 2 named perils. The policies don't work on the assumption that something might happen while on your trip. Coverage kicks in once a covered event actually occurs. Unfortunately, the fact that you made the choice not to go before an unforeseen event occurred will make you ineligible for any payments lost or additional expenses incurred.

When I went online the first time I made a mistake and thought I was buying for $4200 each for coverage. I never say the confirmation email until I get an follow up reminder about the upcoming trip. In looking at my account on line, it showed $4200 total for the cost - but when I got the email reminder it showed $3000 total.

Even though I messed up (and later bought additional coverage), I'm not happy that my original purchase and online account showed $4200 yet the email confirmations showed less.

I feel like I paid more additional cost then what my original purchase should have been for $4200. I called customer service and they said they could review it -- but i have not heard anything. I have the screenshot of the original email login showing the $4200 for the cost.

Not happy this time around.
