Since we fortunately did not need the plan I cannot really comment on how good the coverage was because we did not file a claim, and do not know what the results of a claim would be.

Seven Corners Roundtrip Choice
I decided to get travel insurance with Seven Corners because the insurance offered by SmarTours travel company didn't quite meet my needs. Then my trip to Japan, April 2011,--which was insured by Seven Corners--was canceled by SmarTours. The SmarTours company offered full refund--including the cost of their travel insurance--to all participants. However, Seven Corners basically said--sorry no refund (!)--but you can transfer insurance fee to another trip--IF you come up with the new travel dates before the date the Japan trip would have taken place--which was only a couple weeks away! Fortunately I had a cruise coming up in Sept 2011 and hadn't decided on insurance yet--so was able to transfer the payment to that trip. If I didn't have that trip already planned I would have lost the entire cost of the insurance on a trip that had been canceled (by the travel company--not me!) and no insurance claim filed. Perhaps this is standard procedures with most travel insurance companies--I don't know. Just something to think about when deciding to get a different insurance than the one offered by a tour company...

Each policy does have a specified amount of time called 'free look period' in which you can return your policy for a refund of premium. In this case it was a 10 day free look period. Once you are outside of that time frame the policy premium is considered earned by the insurance companies. There are situations like these where they will allow the insured to move the policy to another trip.
