I had no need to use this insurance policy and it cost me $1468 which is by far the most I have ever paid for a travel insurance policy. Travel in the Antarctic is expensive compared to anywhere else in the world (and it was the 7th continent I have visited, and I've been to lots of remote places) . So one should expect to be obliged to buy a comprehensive travel insurance policy and it will be expensive. I suppose if you can afford a cruise in Antarctica you can afford the buy a very expensive travel insurance policy.

Long hold times on the phone for emergency line.
Received inaccurate information from phone representative.
Inadequate coverage for our trip delay. Only broke even with the amount we paid for the insurance, leaving us several hundred dollars out of pocket.

Fortunately I didn’t have to submit a claim this trip but a couple of years ago I did and Travelex covered the entire cost of my six day hospital stay in Uppsala, Sweden. I’ve already purchased another Travelex Select plan for another upcoming trip to Sweden this summer.

Really easy to obtain the policy even shortly prior to my trip. Thankfully, I did not need to use it. But I felt much better knowing I had the policy to back me up had it been necessary.

Thankfully, my wife and I did not have to use the insurance or file a claim. It was good to have the coverage, though, for peace of mind. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

I didn’t need to use the coverage this trip but I have in the past and that’s why I purchased a Travelex plan for this trip. The knowledge that I was covered certainly enhanced my trip. This plan was better than the cruise line vacation plan. Since I had purchased a plan from Travelex for a previous trip, I had the peace of mind knowing that should something go awry during this “new normal,” I would be covered for the trip. Highly recommend using insuremytrip for cost comparison in selecting the right plan for you. For this trip, it was Travelex for me.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (“BHSIC”) is the underwriter and claim administrator for the policy you purchased. Travelex Insurance does not make claim determinations; however, we have escalated your concerns to BHSIC, and we have been advised that your claim is in the que to be processed. To clarify your comment on Travel Delay, you are eligible up to the maximum benefit amount, which is per day and per person.
It is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated, and all claims are determined based on the required documentation submitted and the policy details for the policy you purchased.
