We filed a claim in October 2017, for a November 2017 cruise that we cancelled. There were several hurricanes that increased their response time, which is understandable, but We had "cancel for any reason" insurance and we didn't receive our insurance reimbursement until April 2018. It took 6 months to go through the claim process. They would say they needed additional information and then two weeks later they would ask for new information that they could have asked for in the previous contact - it seemed like they were trying to delay resolution of our claim. They took so long that they threatened they were going to close our claim request because we provided an "invalid" cruise reservation number - it turns out it wasn't invalid at all, it was archived by the cruise line since it was so many months after the actual cruise date. They did pay the amount we expected, but taking 6 months to pay us is way too long.

    Thank you for leaving a review regarding the length of your claim settlement. The amount of time you waited to reach settlement was too long. We are sorry for the inconvenience and the frustration it caused. We are taking important steps to make sure claims are settled promptly, including increasing the number of adjusters we have available. I was offered an opportunity to purchase trip insurance when I bought a trip through a travel website to India and Nepal, but it was significantly more expensive than TravelSafe. I declined their insurance and purchased TravelSafe instead after doing some research and checking their reviews. Luckily, I did not need to use my insurance, but it was comforting to know it was there. When I first arrived in India, there was a rough patch when the Visa officials said my paperwork was incorrect and they were not going to let me into India, saying I needed to go back to my own country. I eventually worked that out, but it was comforting to know that I had travel insurance to turn to if needed.

Better to have it and not need it. Necessary when traveling in case of medical emergency. We were in 4 ports this last cruise and there was an ambulance in each port to pick up a passenger.
