Luckily we didn’t need the coverage this trip. Two trips ago my FIL died while we were on a cruise and this insurance really saved us. Nobody accounts for the unseeable, but, when you need a net to catch you, it is 100% worth it! A must when traveling!

TravelSafe Classic
So lots of reviews on this site are from people who have never filed a claim. In this instance I did not file a claim, but I almost had to. I had a trip planned to Chile and the week before my departure date they had rioting and civil unrest and the US State Department raised their travel advisory level to 2. Despite all these circumstances and that most people would not want to visit Chile under these conditions, most of the policies on the site do not cover "civil unrest", they cover Terrorism. I was told perhaps if the US travel advisory level got to "3" i should file a claim and see what the claims department would say. I was advised I should have bought a "cancel for any reason" policy. So that's something for people to consider as they travel outside of USA and Europe. Fortunately we were able to seek refunds from the hotel and airlines given the circumstances. But this has enlightened me as to what these policies do not cover.

We were fortunate that we did not have to use the plan. We do get a piece of mind by having it in place. TravelSafe Classic is a great comprehensive plan. Please don't leave home without some plan in place.

My luggage was lost for the first three days of a 28 day trip. When I called, I was told the lost luggage benefit wouldn't be available until the airline declared my luggage lost which could take up to a month. The delayed baggage benefit is woefully inadequate for this situation. In the future, I will look for coverage that declares luggage lost after a reasonable period of time (2 - 3 days) or won't get coverage at all as this was useless to me. How could I replace 28 days of travel needs for $250?

My assumption was that I would receive the $250 for my lost time, additional costs etc. and was told that I needed to submit receipts for actual costs. Had my luggage not arrived on day 3, I would have lost an entire vacation day replacing items with no compensation for that lost time.

The person I spoke with about my lost luggage was very helpful and explained everything well. The coverage was just inadequate.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We value what our travelers have to say and always take it into consideration. We are happy to hear that you received good customer service, and do apologize that the coverage was not helpful for you in your situation.

    Our baggage delay benefit is only intended to reimburse clients for necessities needed to get through a day or two while their luggage is located. It is actual insurance and not an inconvenience benefit which is why receipts are required and at 12 hours is one of the shorter time periods before the coverage is effective. Our lost luggage benefit is more robust, but does require that the baggage actually be declared lost. Our benefits do work in the same manner as most in the industry.

    Again, we do apologize that our coverage did not meet your needs. Happy & Safe travels.

My Comments: I didn't have to use the chosen insurance plan's services, and that's always great news!
I do commend the excellent services of Insure My Trip. They recommended the TravelSafe Classic plan to me, and I trust their judgment. This is the 3rd time I purchase travel insurance from Insure My Trip.

We do not offer any multi-trip annual plans that allow you to insure the cost of your trip, but we have Multi-Trip Medical policies which provide annual medical coverage for multiple trips throughout the year. All policies have trip length restrictions of either 30 or 70 days and will only cover international trips.
