Even though I did not need to use the purchased coverage, I have used Insure My Trip many times before and have felt confident if it was ever needed. With this trip, the hurricanes hit in Texas while I was in Mexico and then upon arriving home, Mexico was in the path of the next hurricane, so you never know. It is always a good idea to pick up the coverage for not a lot of cost.

Purchased this plan because we were traveling with an agency that we had never used previously. Also, the resort we were planning to stay at wasn't open yet, and as a precaution we purchased travel insurance. As it turned out, everything with the trip, the resort and the agency worked out fine, but unfortunately, my husband got involved in a project at work and as a result we couldn't travel. Luckily, we had the travel insurance and our claim was handled promptly and was very easy to submit. The $252 we spent on the plan saved us thousands in non-refundable trip costs.

Having purchased the plan gave me peace of mind. I needed to take a planned vacation, but needed to be able to cancel if needed for family reasons. Thankfully I didn't need the coverage, but having it allowed me to have a wonderful vacation! Thank you.

I suffered a ruptured Achilles while on vacation in St Lucia Dec 2011. As a result I was forced to cancel the May trip to Cozumel that was planned for myself and my wife. MH Ross was very helpful in filing the claim and timely in the refund. I would buy the protection again.
Though this was a true medical necessity I always purchase the cancel for any reason plan as a precaution against the unexpected in life

It was unclear that one has to insure ALL parts of the vacation, even the reusable parts of airline tickets, if one wants cancellation for any reason. We purchased cancel for any reason - very expensive - to avoid loss when canceling a vacation when we feel ill. Perhaps this was overkill. I am still unclear what would be covered if one selected the much less expensive cancellation for illness, which should be more appropriate for us. As senior citizens since we recover from illnesses slower than younger people we cancel trips when less ill than when we were younger, since we would not enjoy the vacation if sick even if we could stagger on to the plane. Its unclear what evidence they would require to refund expenses. Fortunately for this vacation we were healthy.

I didn't need to file a claim under this insurance, so I can't say how it would work if I did; I am very happy that I did NOT need it in the long run - the point of having insurance is to protect you in case you do, but it's better not to need it! Our family trip (3 generations) to Mexico went just fine, and we have already booked the same trip for fall of 2011; we will take out the same coverage again.
