Thankfully, we didn't need to use the plan - no mishaps or accidents. But after a few trips and falls I was happy to know that if needed, we were all insured for broken legs and toes! I don't know if it covers our re-routed plane trip on return since we paid extra for a direct flight, which didn't happen. I will investigate unless you can answer this question.

I did not purchase this plan to interrupt my journey, like anyone would not. For the reasonable cost of all that coverage, I had the peace of mind that someone is out there ready to help in the event I needed help. That in itself has paid for the coverage in many ways.

We purchased the coverage because my wife and I both had ill parents at the time we planned the trip. We were worried that we may have needed to cancel if the illnesses didn't improve. Fortunately, we did not need to use the coverage but would not hesitate to purchase it again.

Other policies that cost less didn't provide for evacuation to the US if there were a medical emergency. Purchasers should be made aware that the normal coverage is evacuation to the nearest hospital. If they are not comfortable with medical care in foreign countries they should be made aware what they signing up for.
