I have a question about this subject!

Question:

We will be flying to Miami and driving from Miami to Key West and back over 7 days, reserving 4 different hotels and must make reservations for several tours in advance. Would all of a trip like this be insurable? In the past I have only insured our cruises. Thanks in advance.

Answer:

Yes, you can insure all prepaid non-refundable travel arrangements paid for prior to departure with any comprehensive policy other than the cruise specific plans. Comprehensive Plans are the most widely known form of coverage and are often called package plans. Typically, a Comprehensive Plan will offer a variety of benefits for travelers, covering a wide range of concerns. Most provide coverage for Trip Cancellation, Trip interruption, Baggage loss, Medical, Dental, Emergency Evacuation, 24 Hour Traveler Assistance, Baggage Delay, Travel Delay, and Accidental Death.

Answer:

The number one covered reason for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption is the unforeseen illness or injury of you or a traveling companion that deems you unfit to travel, by order of a licensed physician; or the unforeseen hospitalization or death of a family member. To see all of the covered reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip, please click on the dollar amount that appears under the words "Trip Cancellation" when viewing a quote. If you have to cancel for a covered reason, you are reimbursed 100%. Please fill out the quote form with your trip details to obtain a quote. If you are interested in trip cancellation and other travel protection benefits, please view the plans under the “Comprehensive” tab when you arrive on the results page.

Question:

I am planning a road trip with some friends for part of Spring Break (I'm a 21, almost 22 year old student in my senior year of college). We were planning on going to DC from Boston mostly looking at historical sites along the way. I have car insurance but I know that my liability isn't high enough for what I would want for this type of road trip. I want to know however if I can purchase some sort of travel insurance to assure myself that I would be all set for this type of trip. I know that it isn't strictly necessary but it's something that would make all of our parents feel better so I really want to know if there is any travel insurance that would fit my needs. Thank you and I hope of hear from you soon.

Answer:

We can certainly insure road trips, however, some benefits that may only apply to those who are using common carriers such as airlines cannot be removed from the policies. Contacting us by phone would be the best way for us to assist you with a quote for this type of trip.
