Question:

We have a travel group of 4 -- so if one cannot make it can we be reimbursed for just their portion because we still want to go?

Answer:

Yes, if one traveler has to cancel the trip for a covered reason outlined in the policy certificate, they can file a claim for their portion of the total trip cost. Everyone else that is insured can still go on the trip and be covered, or they are also covered to cancel the trip and be reimbursed their portion of the total trip cost as well. To see all of the covered reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip, please click on the dollar amount that appears under the words "Trip Cancellation" when viewing a quote.

Answer:

Yes, if one traveler has to cancel the trip for a covered reason listed in the policy certificate, all travelers who are insured are also covered to cancel as the cancellation coverage also extends to Traveling Companions.

Question:

One of two unrelated travelers has an emergency and has to return home: Should they be on the same coverage/policy so if the second person also decides to cancel the remainder of his portion of the trip, the second person will still be covered under the policy? If they use the same company, would they need to purchase identical coverages with the same company? Or is it better if each traveler purchases separate coverage/policy from the same company or from different companies?

Answer:

As long as you are Travel Companions, if one traveler has to cancel or interrupt the trip for a covered reason, all travelers who are insured are able to cancel or interrupt their trip as well. You do not need to be on the same policy or be insured with the same company, you just have to be considered Travel Companions. Please view the definition of Travel Companion listed in the policy certificate as this can vary between each provider.

Question:

How to add a second passanger
- svetislavV,

Answer:

After the policy is purchased, you are unable to add or remove travelers from a policy, unfortunately. You would either need to purchase a new policy for the second traveler, or you may be able to cancel the existing policy and purchase a new policy to cover both travelers.

Question:

We've purchased a ticket for my daughter's boyfriend. They are becoming less than friendly, so he may not want to go. Is there any way we can get insurance in case he would decide not to go?

Answer:

The only available coverage for that type of situation would be a policy that includes Cancel For Any Reason. There are 3 conditions that must be met to purchase a Cancel For Any Reason Rider as follows: Purchase the policy within 14-30 days of First Trip Payment; Insure ALL prepaid and non-refundable travel expenses prior to departure; Trip must be canceled more than 2 days prior to departure date. If you meet all 3 of these conditions, most of the policies will reimburse you 75% of your trip costs, unless otherwise noted.
