I have a question about this subject!

Question:

I am planning a trip to be paid for with hotel rewards points and airline reward points. I can determine the cash cost of both the accommodations and the airfare. Can I insure this for the cash value?

Answer:

The value of points or miles cannot be insured. You can insure the taxes and fees you paid to redeem the points, as long as the taxes and fees are prepaid and non-refundable. Most providers will cover up to a specified amount for the re-deposit fee to re-deposit the points back in to your account if you had to cancel for a covered reason.

Question:

I need to get insurance to cover my deposit for a trip not due until January 2019 (more than 12 months away). Is this possible? All the insurance agents that I have spoken to indicate a 12 month limit.

Answer:

You can certainly purchase a policy for a future trip in 2019 with several of our providers on our website, that isn't an issue. If you fill out the quote form on our home page with your trip details, any plans that show up in the quote results list will be available for purchase. Please do not hesitate to call us if you would like someone to assist you with a quote over the telephone.

Question:

I made a $350 refundable deposit for a trip to India in May 2017. I have not made any other payments as yet. Does this qualify as an initial payment for insurance purposes?

Answer:

Yes. The Initial Trip Payment is the very first time any money was exchanged for your trip. You can purchase most policies up until the day before departure, however; you may not be eligible for some time sensitive benefits if you do not purchase within 10-30 days of the initial trip deposit/payment. Some time sensitive benefits are, but not limited to: Pre-Existing Condition Waiver, Financial Default, Terrorism, Cancel For Any Reason and Cancel For Work Reasons.

Answer:

Please fill out the quote form with your trip details and once you arrive on the results page, please view the plans under the medical tab. Our single trip medical plans provide both medical and medical evacuation coverage when traveling outside of your home country. When viewing the quote, it will give you the option to increase the medical limit up to $1,000,000 depending on your age.
