I have a question about this subject!

Question:

I am trying to get a quote for travel insurance and we are traveling to 3 countries but the choices only accepts one country. How do I list them all?
- Anita,
03/23/2019

Answer:

If traveling outside the United States, enter the country where travelers will be spending the most time. If spending equal time in multiple countries, choose your first international destination. If taking a cruise, enter the first international port of arrival as your destination.

Question:

I reserved and made the down payment on a Caribbean Cruise a few weeks ago, we will also spend a few days before at Disney World, we will be flying. I will not be able to make reservations for WDW and buy airline tickets until next year. What is the best way to insure this trip, one of the main reasons for considering insurance is my 11 year old (medical) in case of illness or accidents and also the high cost of the trip.
- SusanneW,
10/25/2018

Answer:

You can purchase most policies up until the day before departure, however; you may not be eligible for some time sensitive benefits if you do not purchase within 10-21 days of the initial trip deposit/payment. Some time sensitive benefits are, but not limited to: Pre-Existing Condition Waiver, Financial Default, Terrorism, Cancel For Any Reason and Cancel For Work Reasons. You can insure what you have paid for to date and any known costs, and once you make subsequent payments towards the trip prior to departure, you can contact us and update your existing policy accordingly.

Question:

Going on a 14 day Viking river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest in May 2018. Is there a travel insurance that cover pre existing conditions? I am going through some tests at this time and not sure how I will feel 5 months from now.
- ElisabethM,
11/20/2017

Answer:

Most Comprehensive Plans will offer a waiver of pre-existing conditions if you meet the following conditions: You purchase the policy within 10 to 21 days of making your first trip payment; insure ALL prepaid non-refundable expenses prior to your departure date; and be medically fit to travel the day you purchase the policy. However, if you are currently having medical testing done at this time, this would be considered foreseen and any claims related to the outcome of the testing wouldn't be covered, even if you qualified for a waiver. You would need a policy that has Cancel for Any Reason. There are 3 conditions that must be met to purchase a Cancel For Any Reason Rider as follows: Purchase the policy within 10 - 21 days of First Trip Payment; Insure ALL prepaid and non-refundable travel expenses prior to departure; Trip arrangements must be canceled more than 48 -72 hours prior to the departure date. If you meet all 3 of these conditions, most of the policies will reimburse you 75% of your trip costs, unless otherwise noted.

Question:

Can we insure a trip for only trip cancellation and interruption and baggage loss?
- Regis M,
11/12/2017

Answer:

Unfortunately, we do not offer a policy that only has these benefits included. Our Comprehensive policies offer these benefits but also include other benefits as well. Comprehensive travel insurance plans are the most widely known form of coverage and are often called package plans. Typically, a comprehensive plan will offer a variety of benefits for travelers, covering a wide range of concerns. Most provide coverage for trip cancellation and interruption, travel delay, baggage, 24-hour assistance and some travel medical benefits.

Question:

I want to fly from Seattle to Brisbane the end of April on Alaska using miles for 8 - 9 days.. The total roundtrip cost would be about 85,000 miles and $137.06. My wife has had Multiple Myeloma for 4 years and is doing well and stable on chemotherapy. Would I be able to insure this trip for miles and $137 dollars if her condition suddenly deteriorated which would be unexpected. Thanks.

Unfortunately, this would be considered foreseen and wouldn't be covered with Trip Cancellation. You would need Cancel for Any Reason for this particular concern. We are planning three trips for 2017 with total cost for 2 of us ranging from $7,000 to $20,000 each trip. We are definitely interested in the emergency medical coverage. Is there one policy that will cover all three trips, rather than buying separate insurance policy for each trip and save me some money?

Question:

Do insurance policies allow you to insure only a portion of non refundable expenses, such as a cruise but not a hotel or airplane forfeited cost?
- Ed,
11/07/2016

Answer:

Yes, you can insure just a portion of the non-refundable expenses if you like, however, you will not be eligible for time sensitive benefits such as the "Pre-Existing Conditions Waiver" or the "Cancel for Any Reason" benefit. Most of the time sensitive benefits require you to insure 100% of all prepaid non-refundable costs in order to qualify for them.
