This is my second purchase of travel insurance. My mother is 92 and I wanted to be sure to have return coverage options. I think the policy is reasonably priced. I do think the terms regarding pre-existing conditions could be defined more clearly. I have not known of anyone who has filed a claim, nor did I get a clear sense of the success of reimbursement from online comments. I think this purchase is usually more about a secure feeling in case of an emergency, as most insurance is how you feel about gambling on an event.

We had 1 of 3 bags lost for 9 days. The travel assistance company was constantly in touch with us and the air carrier with trying to locate and return the bag and their service was very good. However, the actual claim filing and processing time was lengthy and the phone representatives were not very friendly. Lastly $250 max for a day or 2 delay is ok, but for 9 days with clothing for 2 kids, $250 does not get you far clothing kids on vacation with no wash machine access.

We did not need to use the plan, but knowing we were covered should any issues arise was very reassuring. This plan had better coverage than similarly priced ones and we will use it on our next trip as well. We ran into a few people during our travels that would have benefited from having travel insurance - another reason we were glad we had it, even though we did not need it this time around.

I think the plan is great for peace of mind. I had an international flight with two toddlers and wanted to make sure, that I could get my money back if they got sick etc. I have not made use of the plan so I can not comment on the claim process, but for peace of ind this plan was great.

Having spoken to one of your claim advisors regarding a claim for delayed journey and damaged luggage I decided to disregard any claim I wanted to make as it became patently obvious that the claim proceedure and documents requested meant a whole lot of time and effort that just wasn't worth it for me.
I guess the only way an insurance policy is worth anything is if the issuing company have a seemless and easy claim system, especially on first contact.
The last thing a claiment needs to hear is an extensive list of documentation required in order to be have their claim fulfilled.
Sorry but I was scared off right from the get go and I really don't need the money that badly.
I was happy to have the piece of mind of travel insurance although I suspected a claim would be rather more difficult that the purchase of the policy which turned out to be the case.

Would love to know more about the specifics they required of you that scared you off of filing a claim. The entire point of travel insurance is so you can submit a claim is needed. The person who helped me set up my plan was very helpful when explaining my choices and coverage. She was patient to repeat the things I didn't understand. Some items she had to explain several times for me to understand or to be sure I understood it. I found her to want me to have the coverage I needed and not try to over sell coverage I didn't need. With the cost of traveling almost a month in Europe, the price of the insurance was minor. It provided me a feeling of safety health wise And insured me to have a good time without the fears of "what if I have an accident, become ill or my family at home becoming ill and I would need to return home quickly! It was a small amount of money in the big scheme of the over all cost of my trip. This was my 2nd experience with "Insure My Trip" and I will check their coverage first for my next trip. I'm happy to be at home safe without using the coverage but many are not as fortunate as I was. I had just had knee surgery prior to getting the insurance and being able to get it helped my decision to make the trip or not! It was a wonderful experience !
