Several emails sent for medical claim from Peru and Ecuador did not go through. Email address was checked and was correct. I tried filing the claim by email when returned to USA and still would not go through. Finally I called and had the insurer email me and I replied with claim attachments and then it went through. Email address in question is [email protected] this needs to be fixed. It took 3 weeks after claim submission on 2/22/19 to get the check.

The Insure My Trip web application was easy to use and zeroed in on a couple of policies that we could choose from. The prices were reasonable. We spoke with an agent with our questions and she was very helpful. We initiated the process when we made our first cruise deposit, and we liked the fact that we didn't have to buy insurance based on an estimate of the other expenses we would have (optional tours, airfares). We paid the additional premium after we had made our reservations and had exact dollar amounts to work with.

Generali Global Assistance Custom
Was hospitalized for food poisoning. Had to first file a claim with health insurance to determine was travel insurance would pay. Lots of documentation that I didn't have such as invoice for airline ticket purchased in foreign country. Luckily, when I asked for it through the credit card company and the airline didn't respond, the credit card company treated it as a disputed charge and gave me a credit.
Just make sure that you get every kind of documentation you can when you are there such as hospital records, receipts for cab rides, etc!

    We recommend that you visit the travel insurer's website before you travel and review the claims information provided. Along with including claim forms for you to complete and submit, Generali also provides you with a list other documents that may be needed when submitting a claim. Please just remember that documentation varies depending upon the type of claim you're filing and depending upon the event that resulted in your loss.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
I purchased this plan as I needed medical/medevac insurance for a recent trip to Ecuador. When purchasing online, the plan seemed to cover what was necessary. Since I did not need to use it, I can’t comment on how well it helped (in case of an incident). I would buy this plan again, and hope that I would,not need it!

Recommend that you read the fine print on each policy, especially if you're comparing plans. There's is a different interpretation of conditions that will be classified for the policy to pay out for specific coverage. For example "trip disruption" vs "trip delay" is interpreted differently by each insurer, as a result, you may get a payout for the trip delay instead of trip disruption (big difference in the amount paid) and it's totally different between each company what is actually covered by the policy, or you may not get payout at all depending on the circumstance that caused "condition" to occur.

    Travel insurance plans are "named peril" policies which means only those perils/hazards that are specifically listed in the policy are covered. In addition, all plans have their "exclusions and limitations" which may effect your coverage. Since policy terms and conditions vary from plan to plan and are also state-specific, this does create discrepancies in coverage between plans.

    We recommend that you review the policy terms and conditions prior to purchase by clicking on "View Certificate", this can be a long and frustrating process given the number of offered plans, so we encourage you to call us at 800-487-4722 for assistance. Also, if the policy does not fit your needs, it can be cancelled within the review period for a refund of premium.
