We have never had to use our trip insurance before. However, before we were able to go on the trip my husband had open heart surgery. American Express Insurance employees were very helpful and upon submitting required paperwork we were promptly reimbursed.

As always, an insurance plan is something you would prefer avoiding using. Ease of mind is well worth the value for money, especially so when out in a safari camp, as we were.

C&F Travel Insured International Trip Protector Lite Expanded
One never knows how good an insurance policy is until a claim is filed. I didn't have to file a claim. I can only attest that the policy was reasonably priced and covered what I needed. I liked that I was able to buy it a bit at a time since I didn't know what my final cost would be until 45 days before the trip began.

Fortunately, we did not need to use the plan, but it was easy to acquire and far more competitive in price and features than other plans. The plan had good reviews from independent reviewers, so it was an easy choice to make.
