Mainly for peace of mind. The price was fair enough. I did not like the email persistence on renewing, though. Uncalled for on a temporary travel insurance plan. The intent is simply for travel purposes only.

This plan is with a reputable company, and has pretty comprehensive coverage for the cost. Thankfully we did not have to file a claim so I cannot comment on the quality or timeliness of the response of the claims department.

Really not pleased with the lost luggage component of the policy, when our luggage was lost for 4 days. I really felt the after hours staff had no compassion, was less than helpful and lacked a customer service approach. We had, after all, paid for the insurance.

We have used American Express Global Travel Shield Deluxe twice and we felt secure and protected both times. We are planning another trip overseas in a few months and we will use American Express Global Travel Shield Deluxe again then.
