We did not have to use the plan but I felt so much better knowing we had it as we were gone for 21 days. I felt the price for the peace of mind was well worth it as I have heard actual horror stories of people not having coverage internationally and having to pay huge amounts of money out of pocket.

This was my first experience with travel insurance. I was unaware of the restrictions accompanying typical polices. I did not know, for example, that I had to obtain the insurance within 15 days of my initial payment for my trip in order to be eligible for pre-existing conditions coverage. This meant that for my August trip, I would have had to buy the insurance in January to have pre-existing conditions covered! I believe that I knew intuitively that the closer one gets to the trip date the more expensive would be the coverage so I was not surprised by that but only the amount that the difference would be.

Plans do vary on their terms and conditions which qualify you for the Preexisting Condition Waiver which is available within 10 to 21 days of your Initial Trip Payment depending on the plan you select. We also offer several plans which offer the waiver if you purchase the policy prior to or on the date of final payment.
