Generali Global Assistance Standard
A comprehensive plan was required for the trip we were taking to subantarctic islands off the coast of New Zealand. The plan we purchased contained all of the necessary elements for our trip and was cheaper than equivalent plans. That is the operational definition of a good deal.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
We purchased this policy to cover unlikely weather events that would prevent our adventure cruise from operating, per the recommendation of the adventure cruise company as they would not reimburse under those circumstances. A category 5 tropical storm (hurricane) then occurred damaging the ship irreparably preventing us from going on this cruise. This event was clearly covered in our policy, yet AXA denied our claim, denied 2 appeals, then advised us to take our issue to our state insurance commissioners office. We did that and eventually received compensation. This took over 4 months from when our claim was filed. While we received prompt and courteous response from the customer service reps, we were repeatedly denied direct access to any of the adjusters who denied our claim to have them explain their reasons, which changed with every denial. This process was very stressful as we were to loose $7500 in what was so clearly covered by the policy. This is the first time we have filed a travel insurance claim so we don't know if all insurers are like this or just AXA. However, we believe most customers would not go this far to be reimbursed and insurance companies know this.

Based on your review, it appears you took the steps that we would have recommended, but we do want you and your fellow customers to be aware that InsureMyTrip offers a Customer Advocate Program. Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. Requesting a Customer Advocate is as simple as calling 800-487-4722 or emailing [email protected], explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.

I routinely buy travel insurance but this is only my second claim in 10 years! My luggage was delayed 3 days.

After I emailed the company for directions, submitting the claim online (with scanned docs) was easy, and I was never asked to re-send anything. The only curious thing is, since this was a policy insuring two people, my baggage loss claim was split between my husband and me. Half the claim arrived 2.5 weeks before the other one, which caused initial confusion on my part and a concerned call to the agency. It would have been helpful to receive an explanation with the first check that the second half was on its way - or having two checks in the same envelope would have been a good idea!

Either way, it's done now, and I am happy with the answers I got on the phone while we were in New Zealand as well as with the smoothness of the online claims procedure. I will buy from this company again.

This was a last minute purchase for a long planned trip. It was fast and easy. My wife wanted some protection for a long trip. This did it.

InsureandGo Global Silver
Plan did not include pre-existing conditions and it was expensive nonetheless! I would not recommend it. If I had known I couldn't get a plan covering pre-existing conditions because I had put down an initial deposit last May, I would not have made that initial deposit.

    The InsureandGo Global Silver plan does offer the preexisting medical condition waiver but only if you purchase the policy within 14 days of your Initial Trip Payment. The premium for Comprehensive plans, which is based on the age of the travelers, trip cost per traveler, length of trip and sometimes destination, does not vary with or without the preexisting medical condition waiver. Some Comprehensive plans offer the waiver if you purchase the plan within 10, 14, 15, 21 or 30 days of your Initial Trip Payment. The number of days depends on the plan you select.

    However, we now offer plans that will provide the waiver if you purchase the policy on or before the final payment. However, it would be unlikely for these plans to be less expensive that the plan that you purchased.
