Generali Global Assistance Standard
Unfortunately, my wife's father passed away two days before we were scheduled to leave on our Norway vacation. Fortunately we insured our trip with Generali Global Assistance and once we gathered and submitted the necessary paper work, we were reimbursed for our monetary loss within a month. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Choice Cruise
I had a serious personal accident injury 7 weeks before my scheduled trip. The resulting injuries did not permit me to travel, I submitted the required documentation and the policy reimbursed me per its terms and conditions. I have no complaints. It took 4 weeks for reimbursement after filing my claim.

A few times, like when my luggage almost didn't show up, and when I watched a man fall on the escalator at the airport, I thought "glad I had that insurance, and peace of mind." Didn't need to make a claim this time, but I have before when my nephew died suddenly, and won't leave home without it now.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
Having the insurance provides comfort in the event it is needed. I have had to use the insurance many years ago so I always purchase a policy. However, one should remember that not everything is or can be covered.

In my opinion you never know how good a plan really is unless you have to use it. I had piece of mind and thankfully nothing bad happened on the trip, so I really don't know how good it was. It would be nice to be able to get some sort of a break in price if you have a history of no claims.
