I purchase travel insurance because of pre existing health conditions. This policy included a waiver for those issues if stipulations were met. Coverage for medical evacuation was larger than some. Other coverage was standard, and price was good for coverage of the specific items that I needed. I did not file a claim.

Overheard a cruise passenger sobbing on a cell phone. Apparently her husband had been taken to a local hospital at the port city we visited. She was crying because she didn't know how she and her husband were going to get back home.
Felt bad for her, but was reassured to know we HAD purchased travel insurance. If we had been in her situation, our homeward transportation wouldn't be a concern.

Peace of mind come to me when I purchase a health insurance plan like Global Alert! Preferred Plus whenever we travel. Especially to a foreign country. A personal experience when my wife was hospitalized during our trip to Germany last summer. The first thing that was said upon arriving at the emergency room. "Do you have health insurance" From then on my wife recieved the care she needed and recovered so that we could continue our trip. Never having to spend even a penny on hospital bills. Global Alert! Nationwide Mutual Insurance

I had a trip delay and needed to file a claim. While there's a lot of documentation required, the claim was processed extremely quickly. Nationwide cut the check three business days after I emailed them the documentation and reimbursed all of my stated losses. Make sure you save all your receipts and any evidence of your loss. I wouldn't hesitate to use Nationwide again.
