As in all trip insurance policies, no matter who the underwriter, there are gaps for specific circumstances. But overall, the Nationwide Mutual Choice Cruise policy covered 95% of what I wanted. Since I didn't make a claim, I can't comment on claim handling.

A passenger did require to be taken off the ship by helicopter while we were at sea. When I saw that, I was glad that I had paid for the insurance.
Be sure to get Passports for minors, even if the cruise line does not require them. They would need them for an emergency air flight home.

Advantage Asset
We appreciated the peace of mind from knowing it was there if we needed it. It was a much cheaper option than what was offered by the cruise line, and covered more things. My opinion is solely based on why I went with them after going over roughly a dozen various policies being offered according to my needs. I did find that Nationwide appeared to cover all the bases, from secondary medical coverage, to up to $1 million for evacuations; the secondary baggage insurance would have covered the loss or damage to the majority of what I carried, and I liked that their assistance in the case of delays came within 6 hours and not 12+ as with some. Most importantly, the cancellation and interruption coverage was what really impressed me, as it was about 1-1/2 times what was paid by me as far as the prepaid airfare, my cruise itself, and one excursion. I think that if the need arose (and I will be taking yet another cruise in 2015), I would definitely consider going with Nationwide again.
