We have used InsuremyTrip many times and have always been satisfied with the plans. Our concern this time is not with InsuremyTrip but rather with Generali Global that carried the actual insurance plan. We used Generali also last year to cover our trip to Alaska and believe this was the source of the problem with this years trip to Brazil.
I clearly selected Brazil as our destination for this year’s trip. However, Generali somehow used our last year’s destination of Alaska in setting up the plan. It is definitely my fault for not reading the resulting paperwork all to the end - too many error-free plans in the past. However the week before we were to leave I receive an email wishing us a good trip to...Alaska! A rush of emails and phone calls followed. I give credit to the excellent customer service of Generali in sorting this out. However in the end they could only “promise” the destination had been changed since they “had no available form” to guarantee the change in writing. Be aware of this and always check the complete description of the plan you purchase!

I would not recommend this plan to anyone. They keep asking for documents that don't exist or cannot be provided, desptite providing everything that could be provided. Please avoid at all costs. They do not want to honor claims and want to make it as difficult as possible. Stay away. Not worth it.

We were on a cruise with a tight schedule and limited access to internet. We had a flight delay that caused us to miss a prepaid tour which would have been a covered loss under our policy. However, the policy required that we make a written claim within 7 days of the claimed loss. We missed that deadline.
It's my own fault for not reading and understanding the requirements. However, I believe that this requirement is completely unreasonable -- especially for a TRAVEL policy.

On 9/2/22, the night before a flight from Salvador to Foz do Iquacu Brazil, Azul Airlines canceled the flight. No reason was given by the airline. Our travel agent scrambled to get us another flight on GOL, and we paid an additional $681 for the flight. That was the basis of our claim, which was filed on September 30, 2022. The insurer asked for additional information (most of which had already been sent with the original claim), but we sent all of the additional documentation required. On November 22, 2022, the insurer asked for the identical documentation, which had already been sent them. Again this was sent to them. On December 16, 2022, the insurer again asked for the same documentation. I spoke with the insurer on November 22 and December 16, 2022, and on January 7, 13, and 17, 2023, each time being told that a supervisor would call. No supervisor called until January17, when we were told that we were required to obtain from this local Brazilian airline, in writing, an explanation as to why they canceled the flight back in September. The explanation for why it mattered why the airline canceled the flight was that it was "protocol". The supervisor could not, or would not, understand how ridiculous this requirement was. The trip interruption and additional airline fee should have nothing to do with why the airline canceled the flight; only that the flight was canceled. I believe it was just the insurer's way of avoiding paying a claim, even a small claim like this. Apparently when you go on line there are a number of similar complaints. I would tell anyone who asks that they should avoid Itravel. And Insuremytrip should be warning people about this company.

Needed to submit a lot of paperwork and took months for the claim to be settled but my trip interruption claim was finalized to my satisfaction. I will continue to use Generali in the future.
