I understood the Travel Safe Classic Plan coverage for health to be the primary coverage, but when I called, they said it was secondary. The person on the phone while I was traveling was very helpful and pleasant, but because it wasn't primary, I then had to call my health insurance. In the end, the cost of the urgent care visit in Peru was not very expensive. The US should learn from Peru about how to provide decently priced health care that you can actually pay for out of pocket.

We were forced to cancel our Around The World trip in Nepal due to a medical emergency. AIG was very helpful in filling our claim. We learned during the claims process that our policy only covered medical and transportation home. We did not realize our policy excluded Trip Delay coverage(hotels, meals, local transportation,etc) while waiting for the medical condition to improve so we could fly home. Ask your agent exactly what your policy does and does not cover.
Note to AIG: Our claims adjuster Courtney V did an outstanding job helping us with our claim while in Nepal and after we returned to the US.
