We got caught in the airline pilot "sick out" the last weekend of October, which caused us to miss our international flight from Miami to Quito Ecuador and miss the 1st day of a trip to the Amazon Rainforest. On November 19, the morning after we flew home, I filed my claim. I had to keep emailing for a progress report and was finally told it would take 57 days to process. I emailed on Day 57, January 19th; I was finally assigned an adjuster who asked me to re-submit all documents. I did that same day and was told it could take 6 wks to process. Today, February 28th, I finally got a check for my claim, $1030.

You really never know how good or bad trip insurance is until you need to make a claim. We made a claim for travel interruption and AIG Travel was a pleasure to work with. They were responsive and attending to all of our requests. We we fully reimbursed for our expenses within a couple of weeks after we submitted the supporting documentation.

In advance of the trip, suddenly government requirements for testing changed. As a result I needed three PCR tests for Covid, one prior to going, one prior to the Galapagos and one to return to the US at a total cost of $265. I wish this had been covered

just needed to feel secure about locking in tickets early when there are so many things to worry about as far as public interactions. bags and emergencies can get involved quickly . this is no nonsense and affordable. would tell any friend who flys to use.

I thought the cost comparing with other alternatives was very fair. We did experience in-country (domestic) flights (Quito to Coca Ecuador round trip) that were cancelled at the last minute and required the service to be converted to a driven alternative, which resulted in a 6-7 hour drive each way in order to maintain scheduled itinerary - this was a bit uncomfortable, but we dealt with it to maintain our desired visits to the rainforest.

I felt secure having the plan while I was in South America. Fortunately I didn't need to activate it, but it was there if I needed it. Too bad US Medicare doesn't allow for outside-USA coverage.

We almost had to use the coverage as my husband was in the hospital for 12 days from complications from routine surgery. But we didn't. I really can't say whether anything was good coverage wise as we didn't use it. But, it was easy to communicate with them. As to price, this is the first time on a trip I had ever gotten insurance and frankly I had sticker price shock. We have had friends who did need to use their insurance and they were glad they had gotten it.
