I had to contact customer service several times over the Easter holiday. They were excellent and answered all my questions. Very helpful! Thankful we didn't have to use it but it helped to provide peace of mind during these uncertain travel times.

It is hard to say if the coverage was adequate because we didn't have to use it, we needed supplementary coverage because of Covid requirements to enter the country we were visiting. This is the first time we've needed this specific coverage. I found it a little pricey. Over $600 for 2 people for 8 days. I think the price varies in relation to how close you are to the travel date. I'm not sure why that would matter but, I got that impression. It was hard for me to select which coverage I needed because there is so much information. Luckily, I had a knowledgeable friend walk me through it after he purchased his. I also think its odd that when I came to the review page the question of , Did you file a claim? was already filled out, so they don't know if I was planning to file one. Maybe that option should be added. They also checked "yes" to say I would recommend them. While I would, I find that a bit presumptive.

Premiums are based on the cost of your trip, the length of your trip, and the ages of the travelers. These 3 factors together may present a higher premium if there is a larger trip cost insured, a lengthy trip, or the travelers are older.
We do have a lot of options for coverage on our website, so it may seem overwhelming. For this reason, we have licensed representatives available 7 days a week, via email, phone, or live chat. You can call us at 800-487-4722. Our representatives can direct you to a policy that will meet your travel needs, and we are all very knowledgeable about what plans will be best to meet travel requirements related to Covid-19. We also always recommend that you read the exclusions of a plan prior to purchasing, to verify that the policy does not exclude pandemics or epidemics.
The review page only has two options for the questions regarding whether or not you filed a claim, and whether or not you would recommend the company. While it does have to automatically default to one option, if that option doesn't apply to you, you would simply want to select the opposite radio button.
We purchased trip insurance that included trip cancellation. What a total waste of time and an obvious twisting of words by Nationwide to avoid paying a claim. This type of result is what gives insurance companies a bad name. I reviewed our policy in detail before filing our claim. Our cruise was cancelled by Holland America back in April due to Covid-19. This is the reply we received from Nationwide.
"Because the Coronavirus/COVID-19 is not one of the named perils listed in the plan, we are unable to consider this to be a covered claim. Regrettably, your claim does not qualify for reimbursement based on this reason"
Following the above statement, Nationwide lists what they do cover.... see below...
The policy you purchased provides the following benefits:
"Quarantine means Your strict isolation imposed by a Government authority or Physician to prevent the spread of disease. An embargo preventing You from entering a country is not a Quarantine"
Do you see the problem here? They are picking and choosing (spinning) what they will cover. The Govt prevented cruising due to the spread of disease, but because their verbiage doesn't specifically say Covid-19, it doesn't qualify.
What a crock of BS! I will be filing a complaint with the department of insurance. I will NEVER purchase travel insurance from Nationwide again. In my opinion, they stole money from me in selling me a policy that was worthless!

You guys covered nothing that was important. You had to be in the hospital in critical condition or dead for your company to pay out anything. The Cronovirus was not covered because of the latest status. What good was it. I just got ripped off over a very poor choice of mine. NEVER AGAIN....

As stated in our policy documents, our plans only reimburse for non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if you need to cancel your trip for a covered reason. Generali Global Assistance plans do not offer coverage if you cancel your trip due to fear of traveling due to Coronavirus, unless you added Trip Cancellation for Any Reason coverage. It is important that you review your Description of Coverage, which are available before and after your purchase.
