My friend and I purchased the insurance. My friend died and the amount of paperwork to file a claim was ridiculous. I was able to get refunds for my friends family for the flight from the airlines, not from Nationwide, didn't even want to try and tackle that paperwork. I was able to find a friend to take my friends place on the Cruise. The insurance was useless. Plus Nationwide would not even consider refunding my dead friend's insurance. She didn't need it when she was dead. All I got was, "it's nonrefundable" Thanks for the sensitivity.
The insurance was a useless waste. Like all insurance, the company is only interested in finding a way to not have to pay, so why purchase it?

We did follow up with Nationwide claims who indicated that you made several calls to the company but did not submit a claim. We regret to hear that you believed the paperwork required was excessive, but the paperwork is necessary to submit a claim.
Nationwide also advised that the estate of the deceased would have to request the policy refund.

I was happy with the plan when we bought it, thus the first two items on the survey are positive.
I fell during the trip and called the insurance number. So, I'm in pain with my damaged foot. My last name is unusual (in that not that many people at all have it), and I had the policy number. All I got from the person I was talking to on the international call was that she could not bring up my file if I could not give her the CONFIRMATION number of the policy. So frustrating. I ended the call and fended for myself.

I’m glad we didn’t need to use it, but I felt better knowing we had it. It wasn’t expensive, and let us not worry about winter weather spoiling our leaving on time, or keeping us delayed with no way to pay for extra nights.

Traveling with the peace of mind that we had more than our limited out of country coverage was totally worth the low cost. The biggest concern is if you need to get from foreign country back to the U.S.. We know how much it is for air vac from our town to El Paso, TX only 45 miles (over $45,000) so just knowing that we had coverage that might actually pay for that type coverage really was a relief and nothing we then needed to worry about. And the good thing is we did not have to use the coverage!

Our cruise was impacted by hurricane Dorian, like many others I'm sure. Not only was filing a claim easy, it was handled in a timely fashion considering it was a hurricane event and they paid very well. I am impressed with this company and am using them for our next cruise. The premium is VERY reasonable considering the coverage and the peace of mind. Highly recommend.
